Hey, Sister Friend!👭
Are you spending most of your waking hours at work?  Are you desperate to find more time for yourself and your family…for the things that truly matter most to you?   Today we are starting the conversation about how to begin working smarter, not harder, so that you can create time and space for the things that matter most.  As people pleasers and overachievers, we tend to set lofty expectations for ourselves, and then we feel a sense of failure when we don’t accomplish all that we would like to in a day, in a week, or in a month.  The reality is, we may not be looking at how best to optimize and prioritize our time.
Before we can optimize our time, we need to understand how we currently use our time and what is important to incorporate into our daily schedules going forward.   I am going to walk you through 5 steps to start the process of working smarter, not harder, and creating time freedom.
I hope this episode blesses you and that you will continue to join me on this journey toward balance, peace, and freedom to live the abundant life you were called to.

Do you struggle to set boundaries with confidence?  Friends…  I have to be honest.  This episode might be a little raw and vulnerable for me.  I had something else planned but a real-life thing happened that smacked me in the face with a topic that I felt led to talk about instead.   It is something that is difficult for many of us.  I am talking about setting boundaries, and more specifically setting boundaries as a people pleaser.  If I am going to be honest, It is one of the hardest things for me to do with confidence and without guilt.
The enemy is cunning in his efforts to hit us where we are most vulnerable, and he did just that with me today.  I am sharing a personal story that exposes an area of vulnerability.  It is my hope that you will hear a message in my mess and that the Lord can use it in a way that brings glory to Him.  Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be real and vulnerable as I navigate this journey and as God continues to reveal himself to me in all of life’s circumstances.
Xoxo,
Tanya

Have you ever found yourself faced with a decision or a situation in your work life that causes you pause because you are not sure if you can carry out your responsibilities as a leader while honoring your core values and aligning with your faith?   I certainly have been in that situation, and quite honestly, it feels like it happens more frequently in recent years.
There are times in which every message the world is giving us would suggest that the “right” thing to do feels in direct conflict with our core values.   Navigating that reality becomes very tricky.
Today I am going to tell you how I have come to approach decision making as a Christian woman leading in a secular environment.  I do believe it is possible to be effective without compromising your faith or core values.
I hope this episode blesses you and that you will continue to join me on this journey toward balance, peace, and freedom to live the abundant life you were called to.

Hello, Sister Friends! And…if we have some brother friends listening, well… this topic might start off a little uncomfortable, but there are some kernels of wisdom in here for you, too.
Today we talk a little bit about some of the unique challenges that our hormones can pose in our decision making in life and leadership.   I am going to introduce a tool that is extremely useful in absolutely every aspect of your life.  It is important to learn and apply in your parenting, in your leading, and in your marriage.
I do believe it will prevent a lot of pitfalls and regret.  It has been shown to significantly change the culture of work groups, classrooms and family relationships.  The tool was introduced by the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, is evidence based, and has led to great outcomes!
Tune in to hear more!
I hope this episode blesses you and that you will continue to join me on this journey toward balance, peace, and freedom to live the abundant life you were called to.

Hey, Sister Friend!
In today’s episode, I discuss a difficult but important topic when it comes to leadership.  Today we are talking about burnout.  We are going to discuss what it is, symptoms, and some strategies to deal with it.
In previous episodes, I talked about the expectations surrounding Christian life and leadership.  It is characterized by service and sacrifice.  That is and will always be true, but it is important to also maintain focus on keeping your tank full of God’s strength and enduring presence.   Leaders can become trapped in a vicious cycle of unhealthy sacrifice for others, which leads to burnout.
Based on my observations, and observations that others have shared, I believe a large percentage of people are functioning from a place of burnout or near burnout.  Working in a helping profession such as healthcare, ministry, social work, etc. increases one’s risk for occupational burnout.  When you add the prolonged and unpredictable nature of the pandemic, rates of burnout are the highest we have ever seen.
It is important to recognize the warning signs of burnout in yourself and others.  Once you recognize the signs, you can take steps to try to mitigate the effects.
In addition to other practical strategies discussed in the episode, drawing your strength, endurance, and hope in the Lord is the ultimate key to preventing and successfully navigating the effects of burnout.

I hope this episode blesses you and that you will continue to join me on this journey toward balance, peace, and freedom to live the abundant life you were called to.

Hey, Sister Friend!
Do you understand the Freedom that comes from Forgiveness? Today is a little different take on our leadership journey as women.  I am not sure how much we truly appreciate how our experiences when we were young influence our journey into and through adulthood and motherhood.  Today I get a little vulnerable in discussing some things that have impacted the way in which I perceive myself, perceive others and respond to life’s circumstances.  I look back for a bit at my youth, the mean girls of my past and present that contributed to inadequacy issues, and the freedom I have since found in the Lord.
Whether or not it is a “mean girl”, I think many of us have a person or event in our lives which caused us to feel rejected or unworthy.  How will your own experience and the insight you have gained influence the way you help lead your children through it?

I hope this episode blesses you and that you will continue to join me on this journey toward balance, peace, and freedom to live the abundant life you were called to.

Hey, Sister Friend!
Do you ever find yourself feeling alone and isolated as a leader?  Are you discouraged by the fact that you no longer make the invite list for 5 o’clock social hour?  Do you feel like the decisions you have to make as a leader compromise your ability to be friends with team members?
When I look back at my early years in leadership, I don’t think I could have fully prepared myself for the loneliness I have often felt going from peer to leader.  While there are certainly many wonderful blessings that come from being promoted and given the opportunity to lead people, there are also many challenges.  As the person responsible for those in your charge, it is inevitable that you will be treated with a different regard than you were as their peer.   You may go from being part of the inner circle to feeling like an outsider.  Unfortunately, leadership and loneliness go hand in hand.  Feeling some level of rejection or exclusion is relatively normal, and should be expected if you are leading responsibly.  The higher you advance in leadership, the more isolation you will face.
Today, we are talking about the loneliness that often comes with leadership and some strategies to accept and embrace the isolation you feel.

I hope this episode blesses you and that you will continue to join me on this journey toward balance, peace, and freedom to live the abundant life you were called to.

Hey, Friends!
It’s the day after Christmas.  Some of you are looking for all of the shopping deals, some of you are recovering from the carb overload that is inevitable over the last couple of days, and some of you are dealing with some really hard things!
Today I just wanted to pause to discuss the really hard question that many people are afraid to say out loud during a time that is typically filled with celebration…   Why does God let bad things happen to good people, or any of His people?  For many, the holidays are a time for celebration and time with family, while others struggle to put on a happy face, and are confronted with loneliness, fear, or questioning.
Today’s episode is for those who might be suffering in silence.  My prayer is that it brings some comfort and at minimum an acknowledgment…that you are seen and not forgotten…  Today’s topic is not specifically about leadership.  It is about being human, needing grace, and seeking peace and comfort from the only source that has the power to provide it…
